Swissterminal’s rail network has gained a new weekly connection to Austria: The Rail Cargo Group (RCG) has added Frenkendorf as an additional stop on its service between the Dutch port of Rotterdam and Wolfurt, Austria’s most western rail freight terminal, with immediate effect. In the future, RCG aims to increase the frequency of this service to two stops in Frenkendorf per week.
In Frenkendorf, loading and unloading services are available. This allows freight to be carried from Swissterminal’s terminal in Frenkendorf to Wolfurt, where it’s possible to join RCG’s dense intercontinental transport network. Onward connections are available to the Adriatic Ports of Koper and Trieste, the bimodal Terminal Bilk in Budapest and additional locations in the region.
Wolfurt is a key hub for Vorarlberg’s economy, which has a strong focus on exports. Due to its western location, Wolfurt also serves as a gateway for the entire region around Lake Constance. The new connection to Frenkendorf marks therefore another significant step in connecting Swissterminal to important economic regions around the world.
