Information on coronavirus / COVID-19 situation

10. March 2020

In line with the current media coverage surrounding the global spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) Swissterminal AG informs that we are carefully monitoring the situation, and our focus remains on the health and welfare of our personnel, our customers and our business partners.

The current situation

As of today (10 March 2020) Swissterminal AG is continuing to run without restrictions, and we do not currently have any employees infected with the virus. We will continue to monitor the development of the virus and adjust business operations as needed. We strictly adhere to the requirements of the Federal Office of Public Health (BAG) and the Swiss Federal Council, and we implement these requirements on an ongoing basis.

Our employees’ safety is our priority, and as a result, Swissterminal implemented an internal travel ban two weeks ago. Business trips that have already been booked have been cancelled, and planned trips have been suspended indefinitely.

We have instructed and trained our employees in accordance with BAG hygiene measures and rules of conduct. In addition, disinfectants for personal use and for cleaning the handling equipment and workplaces are available to all employees. We will continue to share information with our staff as it becomes available through memos.

Crisis management system

Unfortunately, it is not currently possible to make reliable statements about possible effects on our business, restrictions in production or supply chains. However, we can assure you that since the outbreak of COVID-19, we have set up a crisis management system that continuously monitors the situation and takes appropriate measures. At the same time, we have developed a detailed pandemic plan so that we are prepared for all scenarios and can react appropriately.

Our goal is to be able to safely maintain the handling activity and all other services at all locations. If a complete operation is not possible, we will be available to you at our terminals in Frenkendorf, Basel and Niederglatt. The foundation for this continued service is our multifunctional employees, who can be flexibly deployed at all of our locations. Furthermore, for all business-critical functions, we continue to consider home office opportunities as well as splitting staff into groups to ensure business activities can still be safely maintained if one group is infected.  The same applies to material handling equipment that is assigned to specific groups. If the situation changes, we will inform you immediately.
