The Swissterminal Group is expanding its intermodal portfolio with a rail connection to Wolfurt (Austria), effective immediately.
Running via the hub Frenkendorf in Switzerland, this service’s three weekly roundtrips offer customers in the Vorarlberg area and eastern Switzerland the opportunity connect to both the Swissterminal Group’s wider network as well its partner DP World’s global network. With the addition of this connection, Swissterminal’s goal is to continue to provide more efficient, sustainable transport options for maritime cargo in 20- and 40-foot containers.

From Frenkendorf, customers can access a range of frequent, flexible connections to the two largest North Sea ports of Rotterdam (Netherlands) and Antwerp (Belgium), to the southern ports of Genoa and La Spezia (both in Italy) and to Neuss (Germany). From Wolfurt, connections are also available to the service partner ÖBB Rail Cargo Group’s (RCG) network.
Destinations include the ports of Bremerhaven and Hamburg, the Adriatic ports of Koper (Slovenia) and Trieste (Italy) and several other locations.

Roman Mayer, CEO Swissterminal, explains: “The introduction of this service makes the Wolfurt rail freight terminal an even more attractive option for the strong export markets in the Vorarlberg area and eastern Switzerland. Through added access to Swissterminal’s network as well as to our partner DP World’s network, customers will benefit from numerous onward transportation options to the north and south of Europe. We are very pleased to be taking another step to expand our range of sustainable, efficient transport options for maritime containers.”
