New company structure for Swissterminal Group

Swissterminal has started the year with some fundamental changes. In future, the Swiss logistics service provider will bundle its activities into two divisions, one for operational and the other for non-operational activities.

With this new strategic move, the Swiss market leader in terminal operations is putting a stronger focus on its various areas of business and preparing the way for entering new markets.

To this end, the current Swissterminal Holding AG will be renamed 2M-Holding. By way of splitting up the former entity, a new holding will be established as well. The new holding will be named Swissterminal Holding AG. The new structure will be published in the Swiss Commercial Register.

In line with this development and in accordance with legal requirements, Swissterminal Holding AG will publish a call to creditors in the Swiss Official Gazette of Commerce. Swissterminal’s operating entities, which include Swissterminal AG, Frenkendorf, are not affected by this call.

The new company structure of Swissterminal is as follows:

The split-off entity, which will be operating under the name of Swissterminal Holding AG company, covers the operational activities of Swissterminal Basel AG, Swissterminal Birsfelden AG, Swissterminal AG and Swissterminal International AG, where Schweizerzug AG is also situated amongst others. These operating companies specialise in the handling and storage of empty and loaded containers, the organisation of transport, securing of cold chains and inspection procedures on behalf of shipping companies. In addition, Schweizerzug connects the two sites at Frenkendorf and Niederglatt with the major European ports.

The newly named 2M-Holding consists of two companies. 2M Solutions AG, founded in December 2017, is involved in activities including domestic servicing and maintenance as well as services in the terminal sector. The other entity Swissterminal Frenkendorf AG mainly covers assets such as real estate, buildings and various other assets.

The shareholder structure remains unchanged in the course of the reorganisation and there is no change in current obligations. The employment conditions of Swissterminal AG’s employees are not affected either and will not change.

Roman Mayer, President and Delegate of the Board of Directors of the Swissterminal companies, comments as follows on the new company structure: “The Swissterminal group has been in a process of constant development in recent years. In October 2016 for example, we launched a new transport service with Schweizerzug and in November 2017 we reopened our Niederglatt terminal. With the bundling of our operative activities in a separate holding, we are optimally equipped for realising new projects also in the future.”
